Consent. Scenario 9 of 34. Waiting for a reply

Left on read

You have fancied Amira for a while. Two days ago you texted her: "Fancy getting a coffee this weekend?"

The message shows as read. She has not replied, and she has been posting on her story since.

What is the best call?
Not the best call

She saw it. More messages do not give her new information, only more pressure. Each one makes it harder for her to reply at all, and turns a simple invitation into something she has to manage.

Good call

One clear invitation is enough. Not replying is an answer for now, even if it is not the one you hoped for. Leaving space keeps things comfortable between you, whatever she decides.

Could be better

A single, relaxed follow-up is reasonable. Messages do get forgotten. What matters is the second half: if there is still no reply, that is your answer, and you stop there.

Not the best call

Now Amira is being asked through someone else, and her friend is stuck in the middle. It tells her that not replying to you has consequences, which is the opposite of making it easy to say no.

The principle

Nobody owes you a reply. Ask once, clearly, and treat silence as "not now". Chasing an answer turns an invitation into pressure.
