Interview questions. Scenario 11 of 11. The last question

Any questions for us?

The interview is nearly over. The interviewer says: "That's everything from us. Do you have any questions?"

You are tired and would like to leave.

Which answer works best?
Could be better

It is polite, and it will not lose you the job. But this is part of the interview, not the end of it. Having nothing to ask can look like low interest. Bring two questions written down, so you do not have to think of one.

Good call

Questions like these show you are picturing yourself doing the job, and the answers are useful to you. It is fine to read them from your notes. That looks prepared.

Could be better

These are fair things to want to know, and you should know them before accepting. But asked first, they suggest you care about the terms more than the work. Ask about the job first, and the practical points after.

Not the best call

They almost never decide in the room, so it puts them in an awkward spot. Ask instead, "What are the next steps, and when might I hear?" That gets you the information you actually want.

The principle

"Any questions?" is still part of the interview. Bring two questions about the work, written down, and end by asking what happens next.
