Lesson 7 of 10

Numbers from 0 to 5

Count to five and read the characters for each number.

About 5 minutes. 6 words and phrases.

Learn

Read each one out loud, following the pinyin. Say it a second time before you move on.

  1. 零

    líng

    zero

  2. 一

    yī

    one

Said yī when counting. In front of other words its tone changes, so you will also hear yí and yì.

  3. 二

    èr

    two

  4. 三

    sān

    three

  5. 四

    sì

    four

Sounds close to 死 (sǐ, death), so four is an unlucky number for many people.

  6. 五

    wǔ

    five
